Dhiraj Bombarde

Dhiraj is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Pavia, Italy. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Design and Manufacturing. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2024 from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, India, where his research focused on developing locking alleviation strategies in finite element analysis (FEA) and isogeometric analysis (IGA).

Since then, his research has focused on advanced isogeometric methods for phase-field modelling. He was subsequently awarded the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) for the project PADLOCK (HORIZON-MSCA-2024-PF-01), through which he continues his research in collaboration with Guillermo. His current work centres on adaptive isogeometric methods based on hierarchical and truncated hierarchical B-splines (HB/THB-splines), with applications to the Allen–Cahn and Cahn–Hilliard phase-field equations for tumor growth simulation.

Research interests: Computational oncology, phase-field modelling, biomechanics, IGA, local refinement in IGA, HB/THB-splines, spline-based geometric modelling, FEA, numerical locking, mixed formulations.
