Marcos Gouveia is a postdoctoral researcher in the ERC project DIGIPRO. He holds a BSc, MSc and PhD in Physics, awarded by the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Since 2012, he has worked on mechanistic modeling of biological systems using phase-field models. Before joining Dr. Lorenzo's lab in 2026, he worked on the EuroHPC project "EPICURE", co-leading the Advanced Training work package and held an invited assistant professor position at the University of Coimbra.
He is currently modeling how microscale prostate duct architecture changes in prostate cancer. His other interests include high-performance computing, soft matter physics and teaching. On his free time, Marcos enjoys video games, playing with his cat, binging TV shows and eating great food.
